Chain Maille, invented by the Ancient Celts before the 5th century, was used as body armor and made of iron or steel rings woven together to provide protection for medieval soldiers engaged in battle. The Byzantine weave belongs to the European style or pattern of chain maile. One of my favorite weaves.

The Yellow Jasper beads are richly textured and have great honey/brown earth tones. The small tourmaline faceted rondelles also have a rich honey/blond color. Tourmaline refers to "stone with mixed colors" and these honey/brown beads do not disappoint.

Carnelian, according to Walter Schumann, is probably named after the color of the kornel cherry because of its color. Deposits are found in Brazil, India, and Uruguay. Colors range rom orange, reddish orange, and brownish red. Ancient cultures used carnelian in medicine, magic, and practical affairs.

Seraphinite comes from Siberia Russia and is derived from the Latin "seraphin" which means "first order of angels." Silvery mica runs through these beads giving it a feathery shimmer.
